Artichokes
I got the opportunity to spend a few days in Baja last week and stumbled upon this huge artichoke patch. Can you imagine all the lemon butter you would need?

I’ve been bouncing around Japan the last few days photographing more tats for the Bloodwork:Bodies book. Masa has been kind enough to do the driving. His hand are always at 2 and 12 and his eyes focused like a laser on the road ahead.

When an man stands alone on a dusty New Mexican byway and finds himself staring down a vicious, charging road sign; there’s only one thing he can do to defend him self. He’s gotta take a deep breath, aim his weapon, and keep squeezing that trigger until it goes “click”
“It was you or him Cowboy. You did what you had to do.”

Aw Ma, is it really over? Yes, sadly it is. I’m back home now. The jet lag is more or less worn off and I’m slipping back into the grind. I have had a chance to browse through some of the 55 + GB of photos I shot throughout the trip, the lion’s share of which remain top secret for the time being. I am able to share a few gems with everyone out there in blog land. These more or less sum up, at least to me, what was a great trip filled with good times, good friends, and good food. I’m so lucky to be able to work with such an amazing group of dedicated, talented, people. A big thanks goes out to everyone involved.

I’m Getting excited to head back to Japan next week with the Analog Tattoo Crew.
Last time I was there was in 2006 for the Full Coverage exhibition.
This time around we’re showing Bloodwork:Sleeves. It’ll be up at 3 Tides in Osaka on February 6th, and at Tower Records in Tokyo on February 13th. We’ll also be traveling to several top secret studios around HokkaidĹŤ, beginning photography for the next Bloodwork book due out in 2011. I’ll be blogging and posting photos as much as possible from the road. Stay tuned.

Memorial Day Weekend took me on a road trip to the 4 corners area of the southwest. A friend of mine has a small shack out in the weeds of New Mexico. It’s a perfect local for camping, hiking, and general relaxation. As the Chinese proverb goes, “The journey is the reward”. The trip there and back included Chaco Canyon National Park, The Hover Dam, Monument Valley, The Grand Canyon, and Route 66. Good Times.
