Port Brewing – Christmas In July

John Schulz and I made it out to Port Brewing’s Christmas In July party last weekend. As you can see, we took photos of drunk people with Santa Claus. Much to my disappointment, Santa stayed sober.

Good beer was enjoyed

The brew staff was friendly

The barmaids were cute.

Some people brought their kids to a party in a brewery..

There was lots of screaming

And toys and money were donated to The Marine’s Toys for Tots foundation.

Sushi!

I was digging through the archives as part of the arduous task of redesigning the podtfolio; and I came across this series. They are from the wrap part for the Bloodwork:Sleeves photoshoot in San Jose. Marcus really enjoied dinner..

The Casbah

Love this place. The Casbah is hands down the best rock club in San Diego and easily in my top fiveanywhere . Big ups to Tim Mays for keeping it real and putting love into his work.

The Books

I got the call to make a shot of all the tomes we’ve done over the years at Bloodwork Books. The pile represents over a decade of blood sweat and tears by some very talented people; and the next addition to the family is due in October. Thanks to everyone who’s been there over the years. I’m humbled to been allowed to document your work and honored to have strived along side you. All these books are available over at Analog’s site.

Missile Toe

As I said, I’m a bit behind on my blog posts. This one’s from back in December. I’ve been into making bullet art lately and it started with this little ditty I like to call Missile Toe. It was a gift for a white elephant party but thanks to my girlfriend, who really liked it, Missile Toe and I still share a home.

Where have I been?

I know I’ve been neglecting my blog lately. I’m in the thick of post production on the BloodWork:Bodies book and have had zero time for much else. I did sneak out to do this quick magazine shoot with The Simmons Family in Whittier.

I have a bunch of stuff I want to get up here, including film from all my recent travels and a couple of art projects I made, but it’s going to be a trickle until the book is done. Stay tuned.

What’s a bluetooth?

I’ve been bouncing around Japan the last few days photographing more tats for the Bloodwork:Bodies book. Masa has been kind enough to do the driving. His hand are always at 2 and 12 and his eyes focused like a laser on the road ahead.

The Fundoshi Chronicles

As final preparations are made to take the Bloodwork:Bodies photoshoot show to The Land Down Under, I am reminded of the simple invention that allows the wearers of the tattoos I’m photographing some modicum of modesty. I speak, of course of the 14 inch wide, 8 foot long Fundoshi. I myself am not a fan of ancient Japanese underwear. I tried one on once and it’s just not for me. Adrian and I thought long and hard on how to photograph bodysuit tattoos and keep things at least R rated, and the Fundoshi was the only solution we could agree on.

Adrian has the pleasure of getting the collectors into their Fundoshi (specially dyed black for the project). The role of Fundoshi wrangler requires a special person and in Adrian, I know I have the right man for the job.

If you’re really into this sort of thing you’ve probably already seen this…
